Foam Board Vase




Supplies Needed:

•Elmer's Products, Inc.:
•3/16" x 20" x 30" Graystone Foam Board™ Sheet
•Craft Bond™ Extra Strength Glue Stick
•Craft Bond™ Tacky Glue
•X-ACTO Gripster Knife (and new blade)
•X-ACTO Self-Healing Cutting Mat
•Flora Craft :
•12" x 18" Green Styrofoam™ Sheet
•Spanish Moss
•Gray Flannel Spray Paint û Design Master Color Tool
•Twelve 40" long thin twigs
•Six 26" long eucalyptus knifeblade stems
•Eight 20" long small bunches of grass stems
•Two 36" lengths of 5/8" wide wood trim
•Misc.: acrylic ruler, pencil, serrated knife, scissors, floral cutter, coping saw, newspaper and scrap paper

1.Make Pattern: Refer to pattern to make full size pattern from folded newspaper and cut out.
2.Trace and Cut Foam BoardÖ: Use pencil to trace pattern, four times, onto Foam BoardÖ. Use X-ACTO« Knife (with new blade) and acrylic ruler on X-ACTO« Self-Healing Cutting Mat to cut Foam BoardÖ pieces. (Hint: Score lightly first and then press more firmly to cut deeper, with several passes of the knife. Replace blades often.)
3.Assemble Box: Working at one corner at a time, apply Craft BondÖ Extra Strength Glue Stick to foam edge of one panel, align and press Foam BoardÖ with print side out, against another panel. Prop and up glued side against something to dry. Repeat with other three corners. (Note: Two white foam edges will show on two of the sides û opposite each other.) Let dry.
4.Make Box Base: Set box sides-unit on top of Foam BoardÖ and trace bottom. Use X-ACTO« Knife and Cutting Mat to cut base slightly larger than line. Place base piece inside box wedging down inside box sides. Trim base if needed to fit.
5.Add StyrofoamÖ: Use serrated knife to cut three 2"" x 4"" x 10"" pieces from StyrofoamÖ sheet. Arrange StyrofoamÖ pieces into vase, trimming outer, bottom sections of StyrofoamÖ to fit. Remove Styrofoam«, apply Craft BondÖ Tacky Glue and re-insert.
6.Finish Edge: Use coping saw to cut wood trim into four 14"" pieces. In a well-ventilated area, protect work area with newspapers and spray trim pieces with Gray Flannel paint. Let dry. Apply Tacky Glue to trim and press into place covering white foam edges of box.
7.Arrange Florals: Arrange eucalyptus knifeblade stems in Foam BoardÖ vase. Insert twigs among eucalyptus. Arrange grass around outside of arrangement. Drizzle Tacky Glue on top of StyrofoamÖ. Attach Spanish moss, covering StyrofoamÖ.
